About Us
It started in High School
Samariel Hastur was assigned 'Frankenstein' for summer reading. They were absolutely baffled to learn the book was nothing like the story floating in the cultural zeitgeist. They were even more baffled to learn the black and white 1931 film was ALSO nothing like that cultural story. They became decently obsessed with finding as many adaptations as possible to compare them and see how this 200 year long cultural game of telephone had devolved. After writing multiple essays for no one and exhausting all their friends and family with lengthy monologues on this singular topic, Sam decided to use their media making talents and turn to the internet. Thus 'The Uncanny Productions' was born.
With help from fellow creatives, they craft videos, streams, and live events to celebrate the literary and the spooky in a way that's fun and approachable, even if you hated lit class.
